MALL ROAD as inspiration
Mall Road is not for show of VIP culture.It is the road which in last one year has shown how the rules and regulations if put in proper way can reduce chaos on roads .
Let me elaborate this by putting some points
(1) It has reduce accidents - The barrier which are placed on Mall Road reduces the speed . If you see the rules there is speed limit for vechiles on road but no body follows that .But barriers are reducing speed.
Few years back young child of my close friend who was standing on corner near Royal hotel at lalkuti crossing was run over by high speeding car ,Driver was drunk .What was his fault ? You cant imagine what effect this incidence create on family. Few month back student of SMA get hurt because of overspeeding.
So becuse of this barriers the citizens can cross Mallroad safely otherwise it becomes very difficult for people to cross it walking
(2) Created awareness about safety rules- Beacuse of checking on Mall Road people have starting using Helmet.This has created awareness in whole meerut. Because of helmet life of so many riders have been saved.So what is wrong in imposing rule of Helmet.
(3) Security- I live close to mall road . In past few years mall road and places near Kulwant singh stadium were the heaven for antisocial elements .This checking has created fear in these people.Which i think is good for security also. Before placing barriers this place was full of persons roaming freely deep into cantonement area. Meerut cantonement being very sensitive should create its own security check up on Mall Road.
(4) Drunken menance- All of us know contonment is having lot of liquour shops .Some things which i observed
(a) , A car is going on mall road .Siddenly a window get opened .,Wine bottles are thrown out, believe me they did it in front of police station on opposite side
(b) A car get stopped on mall road , persons holding drinks in hand comes out of car .Stand on pavement and start urinating. A gentleman behaving as a spoiled Genius Of Civilized world..
(c) A person compleletly drunk comes out of big car stand on road (near Bombay Bazar ) and start urinating with so many cars and people crossing there. Person was trying to show that Boss is always right
(5) Crossing near company bag- This crossing is only one in meerut were you can see how rules and regulations can control things
(a) People are stopping on red light themselves.
(b) Three wheelers which used to run mad during crossing are stopping there.
(c) Students coming from various schools stopping and following rules
(d) Students in all school in cantt started wearing helmets

Its good to hear from you sir that meerut is showing some improvements in traffic sense...I haven't been around there for long. ..but would love to make a visit on that road very soon. ..I think it is something that should not be told....it should be understood the importance of behaving socially and civilised. ..
